This Is the One Thing That Women Will Choose Over Sex
Life is full of difficult decisions. Like, for example, team Taylor Swift or Kim K (or team Pretty Little Liars‘ Troian Bellisaro)? Starbucks’ Iced Coconut Milk Mocha Macchiato or Affogato-Style Frappuccino? Have sex or eat delicious food? (Peanut butter Pots de Creme, anyone?!) The ramifications of those first two choices have yet to be studied and surveyed scientifically, but when it comes to the age-old showdown between sex and food, ad agency Havas Worldwide has done the research, folks, and yes, the results will surprise you!
In a recent study, titled Eaters Digest: The Future of Food, Havas set out to answer that very question in a showdown of epic proportions. Of the 11,976 people surveyed, 51% of females and 46% of males admitted that they consider food to be just as enjoyable as sex by proudly shouting out “YES! #foodporn” (or so we assume). Those statistics are definitely interesting — that’s half of the study’s participants! — but wait ’til you see what happened when Havas asked those same ladies and gents to choose between sex and “an excellent dinner at a restaurant.”
Hold on to your seats, people, because 42% of women said they’d take a fancy gourmet meal over intimate time with a crush or spouse any day! What’s more, another 31% said they were indifferent to the matter. Add those numbers up and you arrive at a seriously surprising result: Just over 1 in 4 women would pick sex outright over a delicious dinner.
It should be said that those same feelings were NOT reciprocated by the guys who took part in the study, as only 26% of men felt that strongly about food.
Last but not least, the results were then broken down by age and placed into categories ranging from prosumer (leading influencers and market drivers) to boomers. Of the millennials (anyone aged between 18 and 34) surveyed, 54% agreed that sex and food are indeed on the same playing field. Meanwhile, 35% revealed that, given the choice, they would totes go for an excellent dinner (Harry Potter cocktails not included).
Talk about food for thought!
