The Top 7 Interior Design Trends of 2015

With half of 2015 behind us, we have noticed some trends that we already can’t live without: Our love for the all-white style trend has magnified, we can’t get enough of that platform shoe action and we would be lost if not for our obsession with all things palm print. So what are we hooked on for the home front? We broke it down for ya and put together our top 7 fave decor trends for 2015. From color changes to accessory updates, you’ll want to incorporate every single one of these ideas into your space.

INDIGO

1. Comfy Couch: Pantone’s color of the year may be Marsala, but we’re seeing more and more deep blues and indigos gracing our favorite furniture. A dark blue couch will be a great focal point for any living room and will work in sophisticated spaces or casual, toned-down rooms. (via West Elm)

2. Decadent Dishware: Who needs matching plates when you can serve guests dinner on handmade ceramic dishware in a gorgeous indigo hue? Michele Michaels’ artisanal dishes are full of texture and reflect the colors of the sea, making them the perfect pieces for outdoor dining. (via Elephant Ceramics)

LEATHER

3. Butterfly Chair: If you’re not a huge fan of big arm chairs, then try a leather butterfly chair. The chair’s design makes it the perfect stand-alone piece for any room, especially when you’re trying to save space. (via A Beautiful Mess)

4. Family Friendly: When your living room needs to double as a kid-friendly space, nothing works better than a leather couch. Not only is it comfortable and stylish, but it will get through any wear and tear and just looks better with age. (via My Domaine)

5. Leather Lounge Chair: Comfortable seating doesn’t mean you need to sacrifice style. Forget about the old Lazy Boy version of an armchair and consider upgrading to a leather one instead. (via Refinery29)

MID-CENTURY

6. Floating Dresser: What we love most about the mid-century furniture trend is the classic and graphic lines used. When the trend is applied to a large dresser, the short legs give the illusion that it’s almost floating. And that mint paint job doesn’t hurt the look either. (via Visual Heart)

7. Sputnik Chandelier: Nothing defines the mid-century trend more than the Sputnik. You can incorporate it with a print or a small sculpture, but for a big design impact, use it as an eye-catching chandelier. (via Dot & Bo)

8. Antique Bench: Trade in your traditional couch for an antique mid-century bench. We love the simple sophisticated lines and the unexpected surprise of using a bench indoors. (via Digs Digs)

9. Starburst Clock: In addition to the Sputnik, the starburst is a must-have design to incorporate the mid-century trend. A colorful starburst clock like this one will be the bright spot in any room. (via Whorange)

MOROCCAN RUGS

10. Home Office: Not all Moroccan rugs are created equal. While some may be full of texture and sequins, a more subdued, striped version is perfect for a refined space like a home office. (via Domino)

11. Children’s Playroom: When you’re decorating a playroom, the most important aspect to keep in mind is comfort. A woven Moroccan rug will last through a million wrestling matches and the occasional floor nap. (via Petit and Small)

12. Reading Nook: A small space like an entryway or a reading nook is the perfect spot to use a Moroccan rug. It will give the area texture, visual interest and, if it’s colorful, a bright + fun surprise. (via The Style Files)

PLANTS

13. Glass Terrariums: Whether they are store brought or DIYed, glass terrariums are an excellent way to bring the outdoors in without all the mess. (via West Elm)

14. Cacti: Move over, succulents! The prickly, pretty Cactus is making a move in 2015. Gilded pots are not required but highly encouraged. (via Pop & Scott)

OVERSIZED ART

15. Entryway Decor: We here at Brit + Co. are huge fans of the gallery wall just like the rest of the world, but for 2015 we’ve been all about oversized artwork. An overszied print in the entryway is a great way to make a stylish first impression on your house guests. (via Honestly WTF)

16. Map Print: Replace the traditional mirror over your dresser with a large map print. It will look super chic, and nothing says proud New Yorker more than a topographical print of your home state. (via Design Sponge)

17. Baby Painting: Your baby may be too young to know the difference between a Matisse or Monet, but a large vibrant abstract painting over their crib will jump start their appreciation for art while providing endless visual stimulation. (via Style Me Pretty)

18. Pop of Green: Take a neutral living space to the next level with an oversized bright green painting. It’s a great way to have a statement wall without actually painting your wall. (via My Domaine)

TEXTURE

19. Sheepskin Stools: Stools aren’t necessarily the most comfortable seating choice, but with a faux-sheepskin covering and aluminum chair legs, we’ll risk the back pain any day. (via Piece of Chic)

20. Cowhide: 2105 is all about using different textures in every room, so branch out from the typical finishes and reupholster a chair with a funky faux cowhide print. (via Design Sponge)

21. Woven Wall Art: If paintings and art prints aren’t your cuppa tea, then woven wall art is another way to add individuality to your space. Wall hangings will add unexpected texture to your space and are a great way to tie in various colors into a room. (via Lonny)
