Beyoncé’s Twins Make a Rare Appearance in Vogue’s Behind-the-Scenes Video
Although Beyoncé welcomed twins Sir and Rumi back in June 2017, we’ve gotten just a few glimpses of them in the year-plus since. But on Tuesday, August 14, Vogue released a behind-the-scenes video from Bey’s recent September issue photo shoot, and it includes footage of both toddlers and their big sister, six-year-old Blue Ivy.
“I’m going to zoom in for you guys, okay?” Blue says as she holds a camera in the video. From there we see a shot of some kids playing in a yard, a close-up of Bey’s eyes, and clips of the singer having her hair braided.
Later in the gorgeous video — which was directed by Tyler Mitchell, who photographed Beyoncé for Vogue — we see Bey wearing a golden crown and posing for pictures, standing among clotheslines of laundry in a colorful beaded gown, dancing on the steps of a building, and then donning a silver headpiece and flashing a smile at her one-year-old twins. We only see a flash of the little ones, but the way Bey looks at her babies will warm your heart.
In a personal essay accompanying her Vogue photo shoot, Beyoncé opened up about how her body changed after going through an emergency C-section to deliver the twins. “I needed time to heal, to recover,” she said. “During my recovery, I gave myself self-love and self-care, and I embraced being curvier. I accepted what my body wanted to be. But I was patient with myself and enjoyed my fuller curves. My kids and husband did, too. I think it’s important for women and men to see and appreciate the beauty in their natural bodies.”
“To this day my arms, shoulders, breasts, and thighs are fuller,” she continued. “I have a little mommy pouch, and I’m in no rush to get rid of it. I think it’s real. Whenever I’m ready to get a six-pack, I will go into beast zone and work my ass off until I have it. But right now, my little FUPA and I feel like we are meant to be.”
