This Viral Tweet Shows Exactly How to Make White Shoes Look New Again
There are few things as satisfying as slipping into a new pair of shoes. What can totally crimp your style, though, is when those splashy kicks get roughed up and dirty. Luckily, one woman has found a way to restore your sad-looking white sneaks to good-as-new status.
When Twitter user @sarahtraceyy tweeted before and after images with the caption on October 15, “I am a miracle worker,” people understandably lost their minds. “God obviously saw me googling how to clean white shoes today and sent this tweet my way,” said one person. “My shoes vs. the shoes she told you not to worry about,” said another.
The tweet got enough attention that she decided to post the recipe. “ok rinse shoes, mix 1:1.5 of baking soda & detergent, scrub w toothbrush, let it sit for a while, rinse, put in washer, baby powder/dry,” she explained.
The praise came raining down, and as of this posting, the how-to tweet has over 319,000 likes and over 99,000 retweets. If you’ve got a pair at home that is looking a little rough, you’ll definitely want to give this one a try. One set of “new” white tennies, coming right up.
