Now You Can Track Your Missing Luggage in Real Time
There are few moments more heart-poundingly, mind-numbingly, palm-sweatingly worse than waiting at the baggage carousel for your luggage. It always seems like everybody has grabbed their bags and headed out of the airport, but not you. You’re still there, watching two or three suitcases circle round and round the carousel. Seriously, where is your suitcase? Now Delta has a new upgrade to their app to tell you exactly that.
The new Delta app now comes with a tracking tool that will allow you to see where your luggage is in real time. If it’s stuck back at your old airport or halfway across the world, you’ll be the first to know. (Or the app will tell you to just be patient; your suitcase is on its way.)
Every checked bag will now get a RFID tag that will allow it to be tracked with radio waves as it moves along with you. You’ll be able to check that your bag made it onto the plane the same time as you and watch as it gets unloaded. SCORE! We already feel safer packing cherished souvenirs in our checked luggage.
But there’s a catch: It’s not quite universal yet. So far, bag-tracking only works at 84 airports around the US. If you’re flying out of a smaller airport or going international, you’re going to have to wait a bit longer for a calm mind.
