This iPhone Tip Might Save Your Life
It’s Tuesday and time for us to share some helpful tech tricks to make your life a little better — and in this case, it might actually save it. You can actually add your medical identification to the lock screen of your iPhone. This tool maybe prove particularly useful to those living with chronic and life-threatening conditions like diabetes or severe allergies. This tip is also good to know in case you’re ever trying to help someone as a good samaritan and need to know what their medical conditions might be and how to access that info. Here’s how you can do that.
First, access the pre-loaded Apple Health app on your iPhone. From there, tap on the icon in the bottom right hand corner that says “Medical Identification.” Here, you can edit things like your name, date of birth, medical conditions, notes and more. At the top of the screen, toggle “Show When Locked” to on.
Next, lock your phone by pressing the right side button. Now, wake you your phone again by pressing the same button again. You should be very familiar with this screen where you input your code. Tap on “Emergency” in the bottom left corner.
That should take you to this white screen that allows you to contact emergency services from the locked screen. In the bottom left hand corner, you click on “Medical ID” to access all the info you had set earlier in the Health app.
While we hope you will never have to use this, it’s always good to be safe.
