This Video About ‘This Is Us’ Will Have You Crying in Record Time
Summer hasn’t even started, but networks are already firming up their fall TV schedules. NBC not only unveiled its upcoming programming lineup and previews of some promising new shows, but also debuted the first teaser for This Is Us season 3, and it had us sobbing in record time.

The clip opens with Mandy Moore (who plays Rebecca Pearson) talking about filming the devastating scene where Rebecca finds out that her husband, Jack Pearson (played by Milo Ventimiglia), has died of a heart attack, caused by the smoke inhalation from their house fire.
“When we were doing this scene, I didn’t know that Milo was going to be there in the [hospital] bed,” she said, getting visibly emotional.
“I walked into the room, and I was completely taken aback. It was like I was able to live out that moment for real. You’re just hit by it,” she continued, now fully crying.
Moore wasn’t alone with her tears: Fans were so devastated by the death of the beloved Pearson patriarch that some even tried to take the day off of work to recover. Ventimiglia has since promised that he’s “not going anywhere” on the show, and NBC, in its release of the first season 3 promo, said, “Their story is just beginning.”
Justin Hartley (Kevin Pearson), Chrissy Metz (Kate Pearson), and Sterling K. Brown (Randall Pearson) also spoke about how and why the show resonates so deeply with viewers, highlighting how much love there is behind the scenes, and how genuine the emotion we see on screen really is.
While the teaser doesn’t give away any plot lines for the upcoming season, it is an insightful look at what makes the show so special, and a refresher of all the ways the end of season 2 set viewers up for a compelling third season. NBC has confirmed that This Is Us will return to its 9pm Tuesday time slot in the fall, but an exact season 3 premiere date has yet to be announced.
