Swoon Over the 50 Lipsticks Tom Ford Is Releasing at Once
Fashion designer and artistic visionary Tom Ford is releasing an epic lipstick collection called Lips & Boys. And he’s not making you wait season after season for all 50 shades; he wants you to have all of them at once.
Each shade is named after a significant man in Ford’s life, past and present. He honors his husband, Richard Buckley, with a pinky-nude shade and their two-year-old son, Alexander, is a bold bubblegum-pink. As for his rationale behind naming women’s lipstick with male monikers, Ford explains that he’s always loved the masculine-feminine juxtaposition. “I love seeing a woman in a man’s suit. Why not have a lipstick named after a man?” With over 10 color families, we’re bound to find a perfect color (or two) to amp up our pout.
Keeping his clientele in mind, he made all 50 tubes miniature. “People carry teeny-tiny little bags today and are trying to fit their iPhone, money and a key,” he told WWD. “ I think the idea of a small bag is modern, and you need to be able to fit a lipstick into that small space. It seems that there’s a trend these days to miniaturize things.” As expected, the designer is hands on through the entire process, from conception to production. Ford admitted to wearing the products himself to make sure they are the best quality possible.
If you want to get the entire set or purchase individual shades, you’ll have three chances. Lips & Boys will be available on Tom Ford’s website on November 28 at 12:01 am (set your alarms now). If you miss your chance there, you can head over to the websites of luxury retailers Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus, Saks, Nordstrom and Bloomingdale’s on December 1.
If you want to see them in person, you’ll have to wait until they hit stores, which won’t be until the day after Christmas. But #realtalk, ladies, the box’ll probably be sold out by then, so make sure to add an iCal alert to snag your set online.
