Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston set the celeb-watching community on fire last summer when their romance sparked the infamous “Hiddleswift.” Within a mere month, the duo had met each other’s parents, traveled the world together and given us plenty of picturesque photo-ops at Tay’s annual (and epic) Fourth of July celebration.
But the entire sitch left plenty of us wondering if it had been real at all or if the “romance” was just a PR stunt (kinda like Selena Gomez and The Weeknd). Now, Tom has revealed the truth about his relationship with Taylor Swift, and what he has to say (and how he said it) may surprise you.
Though fans are assured that there’s no “Bad Blood” left between Tom and Taylor, the actor chatted with GQ about the three-month relationship and when asked if it was real or a PR stunt, Tom paused for a lengthy moment before answering, “Of course it was real.”
Why the long pause, Tom? Dramatic effect or because you needed a moment to come up with… the truth? …a fib?
Either way, Tom continued to speak of his ex at length for the first time since their breakup, saying, “Taylor is an amazing woman. She’s generous and kind and lovely, and we had the best time.” And he didn’t stop there, continuing, “[We] decided to go out for dinner, we decided to travel… she’s incredible.”
So, what went wrong? Well, according to Tom, “A relationship in the limelight… a relationship always takes work. And it’s not just the limelight. It’s everything else.” That makes it, um… clear?
