Tyra Banks Just Announced Her Costar for ‘Life-Size 2’ — and It’s Not Lindsay Lohan
Tyra Banks has been teasing us with Life-Size 2 for a while now, even hinting that Lindsay Lohan might return for the sequel. This week, the America’s Next Top Model host finally announced her costar in the movie: Francia Raisa.
On Monday, July 9, Banks took to Instagram to share a pic of herself and Raisa with the caption, “Now filming: LIFE SIZE 2. It’s time y’all! You’ve waited long enough. I’m so excited to announce who will costar with Eve 2.0…the magnificently fierce @franciaraisa. See you on @freeform this holiday season! #LifeSize2 #ShineBrightShineFar”
Fans may recognize Raisa as Ana from Grown-ish, or from her roles in Dear White People and The Secret Life of the American Teenager. You might also know her as the BFF who donated her kidney to Selena Gomez.
In Life-Size 2, which is set to premiere in December as part of Freeform’s 25 Days of Christmas lineup, Raisa will play Grace Manning, the CEO of Marathon Toys, a company that’s famous for manufacturing the Eve doll (played again by Banks). Although Grace is apparently confident and funny, she’s also a “hot mess” who is deep into a quarter-life crisis. On top of that, her reckless ways have caused the company’s stock to drop, which has Grace questioning her ability to run the business started by her mother.
The new film will also feature Gavin Stenhouse (Allegiance) as Grace’s love interest Calum, Shanica Knowles (The Young and the Restless) and Hank Chen (Lemon) as Grace’s best friends, and Alison Fernandez (Once Upon a Time) as Grace’s next-door neighbor.
There’s no word on whether Lohan will make a cameo, but we’d love to see the grown-up version of her character Casey Stuart, who magically brought her doll to life in the original 2000 movie.
One thing we can count on is some nostalgic music. In March, Banks told Entertainment Weekly that she’s recording a remix of the original theme song, “Be a Star.”
“I am going to dust off my retired vocal chords for Life-Size 2. … Those words [“be a star”] will be in there some way, but it’ll sound totally new,” she told EW. “We’re going for club banger as opposed to nursery school rhyme this time!”
