This Brand Makes Extended Sizes in Jewelry for Curvy Girls
We’ve seen progress in inclusivity in campaign imagery, and designers and brands are starting to offer looks for all shapes of women. But one area in the fashion world that continues to overlook non-sample-sized women is accessories. The assumption that one-size-fits-all still prevails, but one brand is working to change that.
Universal Standard understands the challenges curvy women face when shopping for more than just clothes. They’re here to make women’s lives a little bit easier. A few months ago, they introduced a rule where women can exchange an item for a different size within a year of purchase to account for weight fluctuations. Now, they have introduced jewelry with the same awareness.
Why jewelry? Well, necklaces, bracelets, and rings often require extended sizes as well. Long chains that should lay flat may need to be lengthened for a bigger bust, like the Pebble Necklace ($70), below. Chokers should be snug, but shouldn’t dig in, like the Jointed Choker ($60), above. Rings should, well, go all the way on — like the Tile Ring ($40), top.
Jewelry might not be universally fitting or flattering, but that doesn’t mean women who might need a size adjustment shouldn’t be able to accessorize according to today’s trends, and do so on a budget.
The collection offers necklaces, earrings, a bracelet, and rings. Pieces come in high-quality silver plating, and they’re all under $100. After all, glamour doesn’t have to come at a high price.
