Slap, Flip, Shake —Then Get Out of Bed with the Wake Alarm App
Yes, we know there are about 8 million alarm clock apps out there, to say nothing of the actual alarm clocks you could buy. But our new favorite app this week is the Wake Alarm from Tiny Hearts Limited. Not only is it beautifully designed, but it gives you a bit of a challenge to make sure you get out of bed in the morning.
Setting the alarm itself is super easy. Simply scroll the dial to choose the time. You can also set up to eight recurring alarms. And if you want to cancel one of those, simply swipe to turn it off. It’s definitely the most gestural alarm clock app we’ve ever seen.
But the fun part comes when it’s time to get up in the morning (yes, we really did just say that). If you are a snooze-button-type, simply slap your phone to get a few more minutes of shut-eye.
Once you’re finally ready to get out of bed, simply flip your phone over so it’s face down on your nightstand to shut the alarm completely off.
And for those of us who need a bit more help getting out of bed, you can set the app to “shake mode,” which requires you to shake your iPhone until the the “shake bar” is filled up. The heavier the sleeper the higher the difficulty setting to make sure you can’t crawl back under the covers.
There are 12 alarm sounds to choose from, each of which will get progressively louder until you turn off the app. A note for anyone trying out the slap/flip combo—make sure your phone is plugged in overnight, otherwise you’ll end up with a low battery in the morning.
