American Airlines Is Solving Your #1 Travel Pet Peeve
Traveling is super fun. In other news, water is wet, the Pope is Catholic and bears do…well, you get the idea. As fun as jetting around is it can be a major bummer to find that your perfectly packed bag with all of your teeny travel accessories is lost in limbo somewhere when you land. Nothing kills a vacation buzz faster than having to track down your bag Carmen San Diego-style, so one airline decided to fix that problem once and for all.
The Chicago Tribune reports that American Airlines launched a tracking program this summer that allows travelers to see where their bag is at all times. All you have to do is go to their website and chose the “track your bags” option and you’ll be able to see if your bag is actually waiting at the carousel or jetting off to parts unknown without you.
This new feature was released in August but no one has made a fuss about it until now because it took a while to get airport personnel on board with the extra steps this process needs. The new procedure requires that bags are scanned twice, once as they are loaded onto the plane and once when they’re dropped off at baggage claim so you can make sure your suitcase arrives when you do.
Other airlines are following suit(case), like Delta and US Airways. Hopefully everyone else will fall in line soon.
Now that that travel hassle is out of your way you have time to focus on more important things, like planning your next trip! Find out where is the safest to travel solo or which travel diary is really you or find me for the scoop on how to smuggle booze on the plane most effectively.
You didn’t choose the jetset life. It chose you!
