Blake Lively Used to Send Photos of a Doll to Leonardo DiCaprio When They Were Dating
Though it’s hard to remember a time when Blake Lively wasn’t one-half of an adorable couple with Ryan Reynolds, she did have a couple of other famous leading men before him. Back in 2011, the former Gossip Girl briefly dated another rather high-profile actor: one Leonardo DiCaprio. Joshua Safran (an executive producer and writer for GG) just leaked some rather bizarre (yet totally intriguing!) deets about the pair’s former relationship in honor of the show’s upcoming 10th anniversary.
Sitting down with Vanity Fair, Safran revealed that the show shifted its production to LA in 2011 to accommodate Lively, who was also filming the movie Savages at the time. It was then that the crew became acutely aware of her relationship with the A-list actor. “When I think about shooting the LA episodes, Blake was dating [DiCaprio] at the time,” Safran shared, “and she had this thing where she had a doll that she took photos of that she sent to Leo.”
Though he didn’t give any insight as to what sort of doll it was or why exactly the 30-year-old felt compelled to share pics of it with her bae, the TV insider credits the actress for ultimately influencing the show by being ahead of the curve. “It was pre-Instagram. She was documenting her life [through] photographs in a way that people were not yet doing,” he recalled.
Ultimately, however, the inside joke wasn’t enough to keep DiCaprio and Lively together: The union lasted just a few months before fizzling out, and she went on to marry Ryan Reynolds. Meanwhile, the Before the Flood star has reportedly been spending time with model Lorena Rae.
Still… they’ll always have that doll.
