First Casper announced their dreamy collab with Target on June 5, and now they’re coming out with their own new mattress that not only responds to your body’s shape, but also combines soft and firm for your best sleep ever.
The Wave — don’t worry, it isn’t a water bed — has a unique mattress design that features a support system that conforms to the shape of the sleeper at 36 different points, as well as a super soft foam layer on top for a softer, more “liquid-y feeling.”
The mattress was designed with the European market in mind because they prefer a much firmer mattress than sleepers in the US. In reassessing their designs, Casper wanted to make sure there was as much ergonomic support as possible, so they created a one-of-a-kind combo of four different kinds of foam and a support layer.
Ready for the science-y bit? When you lie on a normal mattress, your spine curves in sometimes unnatural ways, especially if you’re a side sleeper. The Wave mattress has a layer of extra soft memory foam around your shoulders and hips that provides more support for these parts of the body and keeps your spine perfectly aligned.
The end result is a mattress that combines “soft plushness and a really supportive core,” according to Jeff Chapin, one of Casper’s founders and the brand’s chief design officer.
Sadly, this dreamy set won’t be cheap: The Wave mattress starts at $1000 for a twin and goes up to $1,850 for a queen and $2,250 for a California king — almost twice the price of Casper’s regular mattresses. But can you put a price on the most perfect night of sleep?
