Study Shows Doing THIS Makes You Even Happier Than Getting Engaged
If you think the day you hear “will you marry me” or say “I do” might be the happiest day of your life, it turns out that day may not rank as high as you think. No doubt it’ll still be a super special moment (if you decide to get married at all!), but according to a new study, there may be something that makes you even happier.
After surveying a whopping 17,000 people, Booking.com found that 77 percent of folks say that heading away on vacation is their true path to happiness. Another 72 percent are simply happy to browse around a travel website to indulge their wanderlust. On top of that, over half of those asked would rather take a trip than buy themselves a new material possession.
But that’s not all!
Nearly half of those surveyed (we’re talking about 45 percent) said going on vacation made them happier than when they got engaged, and even more (49 percent) said that getting away from it all made them even more blissful than their wedding day.
That’s right: Going on vacation apparently makes people happier than getting engaged or getting married. Granted, weddings can be super stressful and vacays are all about R&R, so perhaps that’s understandable. But getting engaged? Meh. Bring on the beach!
