Enchanted 2 Is Finally Happening and We Have the Exciting Deets
It’s wondrous! It’s magical! It’s just so freakin’ exciting! Enchanted 2 is finally happening, and we have all the deets. The follow-up to the super popular film featuring a Disney fairy-tale princess-come-to-life and her adventures (or misadventures) in New York has snagged a director, and it looks like everything is good to go. This time around, however, things aren’t so enchanted — rather, they’re DISenchanted. Uh oh. Perhaps married life, mom life and all sorts of things IRL aren’t so magical? Maybe things didn’t end up so happily ever after?
With news out that Adam Shankman (Hairspray) is on board to direct the movie, the new story expects to see Amy Adams back in her role as whimsical Giselle a full decade after we first saw her fall in love with Patrick Dempsey’s character, super cynical divorce attorney Robert, and a cast that includes James Marsden, Idina Menzel, Susan Sarandon and Rachel Covey. Titled Disenchanted, it sounds like Giselle may be a little done with living in the real world instead of inside a fairy tale.
Earning three Academy Award nominations in the Best Original Song category and making an impressive $340 million worldwide at the box office, Enchanted was deemed a success not only by critics but by movie lovers alike, which is why a second film was a safe bet.
The only issue is that we’ve had to wait so long (seriously, the first movie was released way back in 2007). But that’s over now, folks, and with filming expected to start in the summer of 2017, we hope we’ll be magically whisked back into their fairy-tale-IRL fun sooner rather than later.
