This Illustrator Totally Gets Us
No one can deny that being a woman can be tough. While we’re huge champions of all the #girlbosses out there, the rest of the world isn’t always so friendly, and it’s easy to get bogged down. That’s why we’re totally obsessed with illustrator Gemma Correll, who helps us see the insanity of our ways through her charming artwork. She’s basically the Amy Poehler of illustration, and we can’t stop scrolling through her hilarious yet poignant depictions of what it means to be a modern lady.
We feel like Gemma is already our best friend, since she understands us so well. We also flock to find the pets at parties, and no matter how cute our gym clothes are, we pretty much still look like this when we’re running:
Gemma has a genius satirical side too. She likes to poke fun at pop culture and beauty headlines, especially the ones you find in those glossy gossip magazines.
Our favorite love divinity might be the one where you float gum in your puddle-water Frappuccino to find your one true love. If our teen selves had sipped Frappuccinos, we probably would have done it, because let’s face it: The he-loves-me-he-loves-me-not flower petal game just doesn’t cut it.
If you ever find yourself taking your look too seriously or contemplating an insane ritual or task to find your one true love, revisit the work of brilliant Gemma Correll for a good laugh and a reality check. For a permanent display of her work or the ultimate BFF gift, you can even buy some of her swag.
