Gwyneth Paltrow’s Met Gala 2017 Dress Is a Throwback to Her Most Iconic Look
Gwyneth Paltrow has always had her own style, which is why her website Goop has been so successful. She has a clear vision of who she is and what she likes and isn’t afraid to share that with the world. Besides her own clothing line (which is very minimalist), she has gone back to the same looks time and time again, updating them for the era, which is why it should come as no surprise that her 2017 Met Gala dress is a throwback to her most iconic red carpet look of all: her 1999 Academy Awards dress.
Look familiar? This year’s MET look is a sequined Calvin Klein dress with a single shoulder spaghetti strap detail. It bares a striking resemblance to Gwyneth’s almost 20-year-old Ralph Lauren Oscars dress, and it makes it clear that Gwyneth has a uniform, she knows what she likes, and she knows how to update her look while remaining timeless.
While her 1999 dress is dated, her 2017 look is fresh. Both looks are so very clearly Gwyneth Paltrow. This is what stylists mean when they talk about having a uniform or understanding your personal look, something that Paltrow clearly gets every time she walks the red carpet.
