Jennifer Lopez has always been an icon. After all, it’s hard not to love someone who has a permanent residency at one of Las Vegas’ biggest hotels, guest judges American Idol, is half of an A-list power couple, acts, and has a repertoire of dance-worthy hits to boot. But despite a long-running list of accolades, perhaps what the star is most famous for (other than that green Versace dress) is a rockin’ body. Celebrity trainer David Kirsch — whose clients include Margot Robbie, Britney Spears, and J. Lo herself — shared the scoop on the one workout move that will help get you that famous J. Lo booty.
The good news is that, according to the trainer, getting a killer beach bod in 2018 doesn’t require as much time as you may think. “The key is less is more now, truncated workouts. The two hour workouts are gone.” When it comes to working with the celebrity specifically, Kirsch approaches it with brevity. “When Jennifer comes in we do a 30-45 minute workout,” he says.
His go-to for sculpting J. Lo’s backside? The platypus walk. “The quickest, most effective workout for your butt says is the platypus walk,” he says. This low squat technique works “the inner thighs and lifts and tones the butt.” Since you can do this workout pretty much anywhere, even without a gym, it’s a “no-excuses” method.
In addition to this move, Kirsch also developed similar easy, full body workouts that cater to his other celebrity clients. This includes everything from a planking exercise for Margot Robbie, to a floor move with gliders for Britney Spears.
