Pies + DIYs: How to Make a Piecaken
Welcome to another episode of Pies + DIYs — the Facebook Live where we complete DIYs while eating pie. Tune in every Wednesday to pick what we’ll make using only three tools and six materials.
This week we are in the kitchen making a pie… caken! That’s right, a piecaken. This is an epic dessert where you bake a pie inside of a cake. Sounds crazy difficult, right? It’s not. All you’ll need is a store-bought pie and a box cake mix. Mix the cake batter as directed on the box, grease your cake pan, and pour 1/3 of the batter into the dish. Flip the pie into the pan and then cover with the rest of the cake batter. Bake in a 350-degree oven for 30 minutes.
We made two different combinations of pies — chocolate pecan and vanilla pumpkin. Let your imagination run crazy! After we baked both pies we stacked them up, dirty iced the two layers and then drizzled with caramel. For more instructions on how to make this masterpiece, follow our Piecaken tutorial.
Thanks for watching and we’ll see you next week!
