Where do you set up for your day job? A sitting desk? A couch? Or the latest office trend, the standing desk? No matter where you set up shop, chances are it’s in the same place every day, but a few pieces of cardboard could really shake up your office life in the best way possible.
There’s a 100% recyclable cardboard desk called Refold, and it’s not only lightweight and easy to put together, it’s portable, which means it’s simple to go from your home office to a client presentation while bringing your workspace with you.
The desk will go from standing to sitting in just a few steps, and the concept goes even further than the health benefits of standing desks. This is a solution that also takes into consideration the transient nature of our “office.” More and more jobs are allowing you to work from everywhere, and the Refold desk is a great way to do just that.
It’s made from six pieces of cardboard that you can fold and wedge into place in under two minutes, and it’s even sturdy enough for a dude to stand on.
We think it’s a great empty canvas for painting, decoupaging or wallpapering if you want to customize it… and of course, we do.
The folks at Refold didn’t just have your office space in mind when they built this desk. It could be used in schools, pop-up shops or even disaster relief. The New Zealand-based company is raising funding on Kickstarter to start manufacturing. They’ve even found a manufacturer in the US (in addition to the one in NZ) so they’re not shipping cardboard to you from across the globe. A $125 pledge will get you your own, and shipping is expected to start in June 2015.
