Travel and Leisure recently released their 2016 America’s Favorite Places Survey, and after 50,000 reader votes were counted, cities across the country were ranked on a variety of factors including charm, culture, food and attractiveness… of its locals. If you’re looking to book a trip based on a different type of sightseeing, check out one of these spots.
MOST ATTRACTIVE
The most attractive cities in the country boast plenty of opportunities to surf, ski and spa, proving that healthy people are beautiful people. It’s not surprising that Honolulu tops the list, with its high population of sun-kissed locals and beach-ready bodies. Southern charm and great food also seem to pair well with attractiveness.
1. Honolulu, HI
2. Boulder, CO
3. Scottsdale, AZ
4. Salt Lake City, UT
5. San Diego, CA
6. Nashville, TN
7. Charleston, SC
8. Denver, CO
9. Houston, TX
10. Madison, WI
11. Alexandria, VA
12. Las Vegas, NV
13. Savannah, GA
14. Norfolk, VA
15. San Antonio, TX
LEAST ATTRACTIVE
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but these cities are likely visited more for their personality than looks. Number one on the list is historical Baltimore. But the city has the most public monuments per capita in the country and has been the home to famous residents like Edgar Allen Poe, Billie Holiday and Babe Ruth, so there is plenty to love below the surface.
1. Baltimore, MD
2. Sacramento, CA
3. Spokane, WA
4. Charlotte, NC
5. Milwaukee, WI
6. Cleveland, OH
7. Tampa, FL
8. Atlanta, GA
9. Memphis, TX
