Whitney Port is no stranger to shocking reveals: As a former The Hills and The City cast member, a trendsetter who shared all the deets of her wedding with us (and did we mention budding artisté?), it kindaaaa’ comes with the territory. Yet, her latest surprising food confession has us seriously scratching our heads.

Posting a mouthwatering homemade summer salad to her Instagram page, Whitney let it slip in the photo’s caption that she’s never actually had — are you ready for this? — pasta. (You know, the absolutely delicious Italian staple that has pretty much become our fifth basic group and may or may not help you lose weight?) As in, ever. In her whole life. What the! Just… HOW?!

“One weird fact about me,” she begins her confession, “I have never eaten pasta my entire life. The texture weirds me out! However, recently I’ve added cous cous into my life and I love it!! Last week we made this Mediterranean cous cous salad that’s perfect for summer! Try it!”

Wow. We’re utterly dumbfounded by this news. We’ve heard of aversions to slimier foods due to texture issues, but pasta? Trust us when we say you’ve gotta get over this one, girl — you don’t even know what you’re missing!

Though we could honestly wax poetic about pasta for days, we WILL concede that salad looks pretttttyyyyy good. Luckily for us, we can taste for ourselves: Whit’s given us the lowdown on the recipe over on her blog. Bonus? The prep work is a nice distraction from everyday life, at least according to Whitney. “I know it may seem like a lot of ingredients,” she says, “but the prepping and dicing is pretty relaxing and therapeutic. Put on some fun tunes and you’ll have the perfect summer salad in no time!”
