Zooey Deschanel and Jonathan Scott first met in 2019 when they filmed an episode of Carpool Karaoke with Jonathan's brother Drew Scott and Zooey's sister Emily Deschanel — the video includes both a rendition of "Baby It's Cold Outside" (which Zooey sings in the 2003 holiday classic Elf), and Britney Spears' "Baby One More Time" — and the couple went on their first date in an escape room.
“I am seeing someone,” Scott told Us in September 2019. “It’s definitely special for me because I am the guy who raises the bar in what I’m looking for in a partner. I was caught a little off guard. It was definitely a pleasant surprise.”
Zooey and Jonathan posted the same photo of their time at Universal Studios' Halloween Horror Nights to their Instagram accounts. In People's October 2023 cover story, Zooey and Jonathan talk about the initial reaction to their relationship, after Zooey posted their first picture as a couple.
“I remember I looked at it and I saw the first comment right below was, ‘Why the hell is she with a Property Brother?!’" Jonathan says in the interview. "I was like, ‘Excuse me—rude!'" “Why wouldn’t I be with you?” Zooey adds. “Our personalities are so compatible. It’s just that we’re from different worlds.”

After attending Jonathan's older brother J.D.'s Halloween-themed wedding as Batman and Catwoman, Zooey Deschanel and Jonathan Scott made their red carpet debut at the Critic's Choice Documentary Awards.
After the world shut down in March 2020 because of COVID-19, Jonathan Scott posted photos of the couple hanging out at home.
"Don’t let our smiles fool you, we both play to win!" the post (which includes photos of Zooey Deschanel and Jonathan Scott playing Scrabble) reads. "How are you spending your time as we all stay #hometogether? @zooeydeschanel and I have been playing games, making music, and of course doing puzzles."

This special episode of Celebrity IOU features Zooey Deschanel and Jonathan Scott surprising Zooey's BFF Sarah with a brand new home renovation. So not only was it the perfect opportunity to see Zooey and Jonathan work together, but it also allowed Zooey to give her friend a really beautiful gift!
In an essay for Drew & Jonathan, Jonathan Scott talks about buying a home with the actress.
"It sat on a little over an acre, and with its lush lawn and massive California sycamores, it looked like a park. Which is why when we first brought the kids by the property they dubbed it the Park House," he says in the essay. "And you know what happens when you name something, whether it’s a mangy stray dog or a beautiful home of your dreams? You keep it."
The couple ended up revealing photos of their renovated home on Drew & Jonthan in 2022! The balance of pattern, color, and detail is really exciting, and it gives the whole home a very balanced look.

"Forever starts now!!! 🥰♾️🥰," they captioned the Instagram post. In the photo, Zooey's holding up her left hand to show off a beautiful purple floral engagement ring. It's unique, colorful, and drop dead gorgeous, which feels like a perfect fit for the actress and singer. Jonathan also revealed he involved Zooey's kids in the process and was a "blubbering mess" when it came time to pop the question.
Zooey's also had a big year with projects like Dreamin' Wild, What Am I Eating? and Trolls Band Together. Meanwhile Jonathan has a variety of Property Brothers home renovation shows with his brother Drew like Brother vs. Brother and Celebrity IOU. Looks like they're adding wedding planning to their to-do list!
After announcing their engagement, the couple made another joint post about a trip to Paris. If you ask us, the city of love is the perfect place to celebrate an engagement! "Amour de ma vie ❤️," they captioned the post. Zooey's bright blue jacket, plus her floral scarf and sunglasses are the perfect dopamine-inducing mix of quirky and feminine (with an extra edge from a black leather jacket).
Property Brother star Jonathan Scott is always talking about how much he loves Zooey Deschanel's kids. Whether it be how sweet Zooey's daughter Elsie is, how much he loves vacationing together, or how much he enjoys the day to day. Jonathan talked to TODAY in 2023 about his role in co-parenting with Zooey and her ex-husband Jacob Pechenik: "You see your life transform, your priorities become your kids, and when they have a performance that they're doing at school, or working on some of their homework, or whatever it might be, it's a joy."

In honor of the "once in a lifetime" eclipse on April 8, 2024, Jonathan Scott posted a hilarious video teasing when and where he's marrying Zooey Deschanel with a bunch of cue cards (you know, Love, Actually style). “As the full eclipse is a ‘once in a lifetime’ moment, I wanted to take this opportunity to give you some ‘once in a lifetime’ news," the cards read. “I’ve decided to share when and where Zooey & I are getting married."
But right when he's about to show the date and time, the "eclipse" causes a shadow to fall over both Jonathan and the cue cards. He finished the video with a wink and a card that reads, “Which I know you’ll agree is perfect.”

Everyone in the fictional town of Dillon, Texas lives and breathes football, and Friday Night Lights season 1 opens just before the first game of the season. Right off the bat, we're introduced to characters that both evoke emotion and spark our curiosity, and we're told exactly where they are in their lives: new head coach Eric Taylor is struggling to win the town's confidence. Fullback Tim Riggins struggles both with motivation and against confident running back Smash Williams. All-American quarterback Jason Street has dreams of playing in the NFL while timid Matt Saracen takes care of his grandmother during the afternoon and serves as second-string quarterback at night.
Not to mention the fact that when I watched Friday Night Lights for the first time, I was pleasantly surprised by how compelling and multi-dimensional the women are. Tami Taylor has the perfect blend of motherly love and the kind of Southern sass that puts you in your place. Minka Kelly's Lyla Garrity is one of my favorite TV characters of all time because she might be wealthy and popular, but she evades "The Curse of the Brunette" that seems to plague early 2000s leading ladies. Instead of turning into a manipulative mean girl like the high school versions of Blair Waldorf and Brooke Davis, Lyla is just kind. Does she still make insanely bad decisions (like kissing her boyfriend's best friend)? Yes, but aren't bad decisions a right of passage when you're 17?
The show's initial plots and character arcs revolve heavily around football, but the sport really just serves as a funnel for all the off-field drama. The tension between the characters makes their gameplay even more passionate — and when Street gets seriously injured during that first game of the season, the town rallies together in a way that highlights how strong a community can bond in the face of tragedy.

Life in middle-class America can be tough, but it can also be really, really sweet. While I'm neither from Texas nor have attended the kind of football school Dillon High is, the contrast between the characters' responsibilities and the fun that comes with parties and joining your friends at the local burger joint resonates with me every time I rewatch.
Even the fact the show is named Friday Night Lights emphasizes that contrast because it shows just how much of a spotlight is on these kids, and how much weight is on their shoulders when they're truly just trying to survive their teenage years.
Rather than providing an escape from viewers' realities like Outer Banks does, Friday Night Lights season 1 emphasizes the realities of juggling multiple jobs, school, and family responsibility that a lot of viewers experience too. It allows you to understand the characters in a really personal way — and feel like you're a part of the community too. The world can seem so big and scary (now more than ever), which is why the simplicity of Friday Night Lights totally redefines comfort TV.

While promoting her new book Have I Told You This Already?, Lauren Graham gushes about actress Kelly Bishop (who you might also recognize from projects like Dirty Dancing, Bunheads, and even The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel). Lauren says she's "so disciplined and so prepared and never, ever complains."
"Once in a while if we were working until, like, two in the morning or something, she'd get a little glimmer in her eye and she'd be like, 'Do you want to split a bag of Cheetos?'" Lauren jokes. Stars Hollow feels like our home every time we do a Gilmore Girls rewatch, so it only makes sense that the cast of Gilmore Girls would feel that kind of camaraderie and family environment on set.
"I'd tell her some story of some date I had [and] she'd be like, 'He sounds awful! Drop him,'" Lauren says. "She's always telling me how young I am, which is so fun, and she's like, 'Oh you have so much time,' and she's just lived this wonderful life and just loves me, and is so kind to me."

Similar to Emily Gilmore, Kelly Bishop has a fiery spirit I just love to see, but she also has a heart of gold. From Gilmore Girls season 1 all the way to Gilmore Girls season 7 and A Year In The Life, Emily's love for Lorelai and Rory, as well as her husband Richard, unfolds in a really beautiful way. And behind the scenes, Lauren Graham says Kelly Bishop's the kind of mentor and mother figure we could all use sometimes.
"She doesn't have biological children and she always says, 'I'm your TV mom,'" Lauren continues. "[When we text], she signs TVM and I'm TVD, and we've just been really special people for each other."

I have such a love/hate relationship with haircuts. While I love the feeling of a fresh look as much as the next girl, I hate having to spend $100+ for a simple cut and blow dry session. During my recent trim, I talked with my hairdresser, Jack Rehak of Jack’s Hair Design in Hinsdale, Illinois, about ways to keep a haircut looking new and best practices for keeping hair healthy. Here's what he had to say!

I’ll admit it — it had been eight months since my last haircut. My hair had lost its shape, my layers were nowhere to be found, and my ends were begging for mercy. Life got busy over the last few months and I was neglecting my haircare like never before.
My hairdresser could immediately see that I was beyond due for a cut and said I needed to get more taken off than I was hoping. I was definitely disappointed — I'd been working on growing out my hair for a while now, and it just felt like my hard work had completely gone to waste. He explained that getting consistent haircuts is the key to growing out healthy and strong hair, rather than letting it grow and grow until it eventually breaks. So let's dig into the top three things you can do to avoid this scenario!

Also avoiding a haircut like I was? You might want to schedule one at your nearest salon. Like my stylist said, when you wait too long between trims like I did, you risk your hair becoming heavy, dull, and lifeless. When the hair is dry or even dead, it’s nearly impossible for it to hold a curl or style, essentially collapsing on you and taking on more and more heat damage all the while. I know the pain of spending time on a blowout only for it to fall minutes later — it’s the worst.
According to Jack, getting a haircut every 10-12 weeks is the best time frame or your ends will pay the price. Between blow-drying, curling, straightening, sun, and weather, our ends get dry and start to break without the proper care. Getting consistent haircuts allows hair to bounce back, shine, and perform the way we want in a healthy way.
