9 of Our Fave Coffees-in-a-Can for On-the-Go Caffeination
We’ve been seeing more and more of our favorite things in cans lately, from wines and spiked seltzers to lattes and cold brews. If you’re not sure that you CAN get behind this beverage trend, learn about these canned coffees that have been keeping us conveniently caffeinated.
La Colombe Coffee Draft Lattes ($12 for 4): It seems like every second, La Colombe comes out with a new draft latte flavor, and we’re here for it. Each can is lactose- and gluten-free with about 7 grams of protein, 14 grams of sugar, and 130 calories a can. And there are even coconut varieties that are vegan and dairy-free. They also carry Pure Black cans for those who want to go the milk-free route.
High Brew Coffee + Protein ($10 for 4): We’ve always been a fan of High Brew Coffee, and we're so excited they added protein to their smooth and creamy blend. These cans are made for those mornings when you need caffeine and breakfast but have zero time.
Blue Bottle Cold Brew ($4): These cans might be tiny, but the contents are powerful. We love this canned cold brew's chocolate-y flavor and simple ingredient list: "Coffee, water, and time."
Convergent Coffee Nitro Cold Brew ($4): This organic, fair trade, and responsibly sourced coffee — available in coconut, vanilla, mocha, and house — might just be our favorite. Each batch is steeped for 20 hours, giving it three times as much caffeine as a normal cup of coffee. There’s no sugar or dairy added, but it has a slightly sweet finish and frothiness thanks to the nitro canning.
Marley’s One Drop Premium Coffee Drinks ($28 for 12): Yes, Marley as in Bob. These canned coffees are made in partnership with Bob Marley’s family. Each can is made of simple natural ingredients: Jamaican coffee blend, low-fat milk, pure cane sugar, and natural flavors like swirl, coco, vanilla, and banana split. The only downside is that each can contains about 41 grams of sugar, which might make some women cry.
Stumptown Nitro Cold Brew Coffee ($5): This drink sells out consistently at Target and Amazon. It must be because this creamy nitro brew has a phenomenal texture, no added sugar, and contains only 5 calories a can. In other words, it's exactly what you want from a cold brew.
Illy Issimo Caffè Coffee Drink, Italian Expresso Style ($36 for 12): This slightly sweetened Italian-style espresso coffee drink contains no preservatives, added colors, or flavors. And each small can has only 45 calories and 10 grams of sugar.
Starbucks Double Shot Espresso ($16+ for 12): These cans have been around forever and seem to be available at every gas station and convenience store. With rich bold espresso with a touch of cream, each can has 140 calories and 10 grams of sugar.
UCC Original Coffee with Milk ($51 for 24): This canned coffee is big in Japan. It’s simply sweetened milk and coffee, and you can enjoy it cold or heated up. Clocking in at 140 calories and 25 grams of sugar, it's one of the more indulgent cans from our selection.
