The Fall Beach Wave Is the New Hairstyle You’ll Want to Try ASAP
As fall weather begins to roll in, things are starting to chill out – figuratively and literally. Yes, we mean this in terms of the weather but apparently this is also true for a certain type of hairstyle. Unlike the bouncy beach waves of summer, there is a new version of the look that’s making, well… waves. Introducing, the fall beach wave.
Looser, less voluminous and noticeably softer, the fall beach wave is a more laid-back alternative its peppy, summertime cousin. The style has been spotted on the likes of Carey Mulligan, Victoria Beckham and the models who strutted down the runway at Gucci’s most recent fashion show. Celebrity hairstylist Ken Paves explained to E! News the reason for the switch up is in part because “When you are wearing layers of clothes in fall with the mega-volume hair, it’s too much.”
If you’re up for testing out the style, one of our B+C beauty experts and stylist at Archer Salon in San Francisco CK Karkhanis tells us how to get the look at home. She says, “Compared to the Cali beach wave that’s achieved with a curling iron, this bend is created with large smooth scooping motions with a flatiron. I’d recommend a GHD. Take small sections on dry hair and bend wrist to do one smooth large scoop ‘in’ towards you and then one smooth large scoop ‘out’ or away from you. Depending on the length you can repeat once or twice per section of hair. This effortless textured look can be achieved with a little practice and patience.”
