The Greek Reunion Movie We’ve Been Waiting for Is Not Happening
It looks like school won’t be back in session at Cypress-Rhodes University anytime soon. After announcing plans to develop Greek: The Reunion, Freeform has reportedly decided to forgo the reboot, which would have taken the show’s main characters back to their alma mater for their five-year reunion.
Greek aired for four seasons starting in 2007 and followed the fictional lives of Casey Cartwright (Spencer Grammer), Evan Chambers (Jake McDorman), Ashleigh Howard (Amber Stevens West), and Cappie (Scott Michael Foster) as they navigated the intense Greek system at the only small school in Ohio that doesn’t experience seasons.
TV Line reported the devastating news with confirmation from the network, although without an explanation as to why the plans fell through. They also sprinkled us with a dusting of hope, noting that series creator Sean Smith has already written the script, so maybe, just maybe, another network will pick up what Freeform put down.
In the meantime, lovers of revived TV shows can get excited for a million other classics that will be coming back, including Will & Grace, Dynasty, Charmed, and Trading Spaces, and keep hoping for other teased reboots from Gossip Girl and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Or, you know, we can all just watch something new.
