Joanna and Chip Gaines Wake Up Really, Really Early — But for a Pretty Sweet Reason
We’ve often suspected that Joanna Gaines might have one of those time-turners from the wizarding world, that lets her manipulate the hours in a day so she can get more done. But now, thanks to People, we know the real secret to her and her husband Chip Gaines’ success: getting up really, really early.
“I don’t know what our problem is, but we both wake up,” the former Fixer Upper star told People in a cover story for its new issue. “Chip will be up at three and I’ll hear him rustling around, so then by 4am we’re sitting on the couch having coffee.”
The mom of five (including nine-month-old Crew!) went on to say that she thinks all of the good things in their lives have made them eager to greet each day. “I feel like we’re in this season where we need little rest because there’s so many things we’re excited about,” she explained. “There have been seasons in our life where we woke up in the middle of the night because we were stressed, and we were worried, like the housing crisis. But this is so fun.”
One reason for her excitement may be the couple’s return to TV. Last November, they announced that they were partnering with Discovery on their own lifestyle network, which will focus on “unique, inspiring, and family-friendly content.”
Joanna also just released a new children’s book, We Are the Gardeners, which she co-wrote with her four older kids, Drake, Ella, Duke, and Emmie. And she and Chip still run their Magnolia business, on top of partnerships with other brands like Target and Anthropologie.
