She practically single-handedly popularized the selfie, but according to Kim Kardashian West, the selfie is dead. Yes, it was just two years ago that she actually published an entire book of them, but now thinks they’re “a few years ago.” Excuse us while we weep into our Valencia filters.
In a new promo clip for Keeping Up With the Kardashians on Twitter, the media mogul played a game of “Would You Rather?” with her sister Khloé Kardashian, and the first question cuts deep. “Would you rather never be able to post a selfie or never be able to Snapchat again?” Khloé asks.
But Kim’s answer will definitely surprise you. She said, “I would rather never be able to post a selfie again. Take a selfie,” she said. “Yeah. I kinda feel like, I dunno, selfies are kind of a few years ago.”
Say what, now?! While this is certainly shocking coming from a woman who built her brand on the art of the selfie, Kim is also known for always changing things up. We’re sure whatever the next version of the selfie is, the mom of two could be the one to pioneer it long before the rest of us catch up.
And it seems the KKW Beauty founder is serious about her declaration. In recent months, Kim’s selfies have been few and far between, though that doesn’t mean she hasn’t been posting pictures of herself, of course. It’s just that they’re photos taken by other people, which is totally different… obviously.
Do you agree that the selfie is over? Tell us @BritandCo!
