Mindy Kaling Teared Up Over BJ Novak’s Sweet Note and Now We’re Crying Too
Mindy Kaling and BJ Novak are total friendship goals. We teared up when Novak recently sent a congratulatory note to his former Office costar and BFF for all of her success — and it turns out it hit Kaling right in the feels, too.
“That actually makes me want to tear up,” the new mom told Hoda Kotb on Today when the host brought up Novak’s tweet. “That’s really moving. When I was coming up, there was no one who looked like me on TV or film and that was such a nice thing that he remembered that.”
The tweet in question was a photo of a massive bus-stop ad for A Wrinkle In Time, featuring a close-up of Kaling in character as Mrs. Who. “When I met @mindykaling she lived in a small apartment on Fairfax Ave,” Novak captioned the picture. “This is what’s in front of that building today. Congrats Mindy and a future congrats to all those who see you in it and are inspired to do great things. @WrinkleInTime.”
As if right on cue, a tear streamed down Kaling’s face as she spoke with Kotb about Novak’s note, and about all of her achievements. “I’m legit crying,” she quipped as she wiped away tears. “No, it’s true. If you dream big, you can get whatever you want.”
Kaling and Novak have had a “weird as hell” relationship over the years, and even if they’re not dating at the moment —Or are they?! We never really know — we love their love nonetheless.
