Kickstart Your Creativity: Start a Sketch Diary Today!
If you’re anything like us, you love a little beauty and color in your life. You enjoy the big things but find extra joy in the little ones (like customized rain boots, because why not). What’s even better is when you are the one creating those beautiful little things, which is why we HIGHLY recommend you kick off 2017 with a sketch diary.
If you’re new to (or a little rusty on) sketching, you can sign up for our online class with artist extraordinaire Mary Phan. The class is yours forever, so you can watch it anytime you need a little help with your creations.
All you need is a sketchbook and Copic markers (Mary’s favorites!), and you’re all set. Just take a seat and sketch the first thing that you see or that comes to mind. It doesn’t have to be photorealistic or in a specific style — this is about letting your imagination run wild and just creating.
Florals are definitely a good place to start, but really, you could draw your water bottle and it would be beautiful.
It doesn’t have to be a huge masterpiece, either; even little minimalistic drawings will do wonders for keeping your creativity flowing and for jogging your memory when you look back at your diary later!
Sketch/visual diaries are a great way to keep your artsy side working, and they double as great memory books. You’re much more likely to remember something if you render it in color (or black-and-white, if that’s your style), rather than just writing it down. An added bonus is that you’ll definitely see your skills grow over time throughout your diary, even if you’re already a pro. So what are you waiting for? Get drawing!
