Stephanie Pratt Says MTV’s ‘The Hills’ Reboot Is ‘Like a Nightmare’
MTV is currently filming a new season of its previously defunct reality show The Hills, and original cast member Stephanie Pratt says reuniting with her old costars for the reboot has been more difficult than she anticipated.
“It was really fun at first, and now it’s like a nightmare,” Pratt, who appeared in seasons 2 through 6 of the popular mid-aughts reality show, recently told Us Weekly. “There’s a big divide. You know, the stakes are a lot higher. We’ve got couples who are married with kids. It’s not kind of just like, ‘Oh, you cheated at the bar.'”
She’s not the first cast member to admit her nerves over the project. Whitney Port, mom to one-year-old Sonny, previously told Cosmopolitan that she feels some apprehension over the new group dynamics, too. “I feel, obviously, a little bit nervous just because I think that we’re all parents with kids, and so we have a little bit more to protect and a little more to lose,” she said. “We are not 25-year-old single people anymore that can just have fun and not necessarily have consequences for our actions.”
Along with Pratt and Port, other original cast members Spencer Pratt (Stephanie’s brother), Heidi Montag, Audrina Patridge, Jason Wahler, Frankie Delgado, Justin “Justin Bobby” Brescia, and Brody Jenner are confirmed to appear. Lauren “LC” Conrad and Kristin Cavallari have no plans to join them at this time.
MTV also cast a handful of new faces, including The O.C. star Mischa Barton and actor Brandon Thomas Lee. So far, the reboot has no set premiere date, but it’s expected in 2019.
“This is way more life-changing kind of stuff,” Pratt told Us Weekly. “I’m scared for everyone. And for myself. It’s going to be gnarly.”
