January Jones Has Words for Ex-Boyfriend Ashton Kutcher
Ashton Kutcher likely isn’t too focused on the past these days, being an adoring father to little Wyatt while also expecting baby #2 with wife Mila Kunis. But if he ever did happen to reflect back upon the days of former relationships, he might not want to dwell too long on ex January Jones. The actress has some strong thoughts on a bit of not-so-encouraging advice Ashton may or may not have given about her acting during their relationship, and despite that (or perhaps because of it), she’s got a few choice words of her own for her former boyfriend.
Back in 2009, January, who was known for her stint on Mad Men, mentioned “her first boyfriend in LA” (*cough, Ashton) while chatting with GQ. “[He] was not supportive of my acting. He was like, I don’t think you’re going to be good at this.” She didn’t let it hold her back, though, adding, “if anything, I should thank him. Because the minute you tell me I can’t do something, that’s when I’m most motivated.”
Though The Last Man on Earth actress has mostly put it behind her, she was forced to contend with his comments once more when she sat down for an interview on Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live. “January, have you ever talked to Ashton Kutcher since he said you couldn’t act, and what do you think about his acting skills?” a caller asked.
The actress first responded with an honest, “Ooh, ouch!” before clarifying, “I said that someone I had dated previously wasn’t encouraging of my acting — not that I couldn’t. I don’t know if that person had ever actually seen me act.” She also made sure to add, “I never really said who it was.”
When it comes to Ashton (whether he happened to be that particular dude or not), January did in fact have something to say. Though she hasn’t talked to him, she said, “I’m super happy for him and his family.” Buttttt it may have been less than sincere, since she capped that off with, “to be political and all that.”
Yikes!
