This New Collection Will Make You Want to Shop at Ann Taylor Again
Should you find yourself in a good, old-fashioned American mall (that hasn’t been transformed into an apartment complex – because that’s a thing that’s happening), there are probably a few stores you always make sure to hit up: Victoria’s Secret, Gap, Sephora, etc. Ann Taylor is not usually one of those stores. However, the modest + professional retailer just released a new collection that’s making us seriously reconsider.
Similar to the revamp Banana Republic recently underwent with Marissa Webb, Ann Taylor’s brand new creative director Austyn Zung is breathing some much-needed life into the business casual brand. Zung has already proved herself as the force behind Lou & Grey, Ann Taylor’s trendy, athleisure line and is now taking the reigns of all three lines (Lou & Grey, Loft and Ann Taylor).
Ann Taylor recently released a lookbook from Zung’s first collection with the brand and the results are nothing short of stunning. Inspired by Hemingway’s time in Cuba, the pieces are structured and office-appropriate with an air of island chill. You’ll find tropical prints, full maxi skirts, elegant pleated details and more jumpsuits than your jumpsuit loving heart can handle.
The collection has the same modern feel some of our favorite indie brands offer but with an added element of practicality that’ll definitely keep these pieces in our regular work week rotation.
If you’re currently scribbling this down on your Christmas wishlist, we’ve got some sad news. These new designs are part of Ann Taylor’s Spring 2016 collection so we’re going to have to do our best to wait patiently until early next year to get shopping. But when this line hits store you can bet we’ll be there, probably with a bag of Mrs. Field’s cookies in hand.
