Drake Threw Himself an Epic Early-2000s Themed Birthday Party
We might not ever learn if Kiki loves Drake, but we do know that Drake loves the early 2000s. So much so that the Canadian rapper’s 32nd birthday party, Tuesday night in LA, was themed in honor of the millennial decade right down to his outfit.
Of course, this isn’t the first year the former Degrassi: The Next Generation star has thrown an over-the-top themed birthday party: in 2017, the rapper re-Bar Mitzvah‘d himself at LA’s Poppy bar with Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire, Jamie Foxx and other celebs. (According to reports, this year’s guest list included Diddy, Easy-G, Kendall Jenner, French Montana, and Trey Songz.)
Although casual fans may have missed the action this year, a Drake fan site amassed some of the pics and videos shared throughout the night. Among some of the throwback moments that Drake had set up for his party were a Blockbuster Video wall, a classic 7-Eleven Slurpee and candy station, a Rap City booth, a 106 & Park set for photos, and “Sandra’s Rose Room” — a room filled with pics of the Toronto-born rapper’s mom.
And if that weren’t enough, Drake had airbrushed tees with his Degrassi character Jimmy on it, and he held a raffle for Chanel bags for guests. His cake was even modeled to resemble a Motorola Timeport two-way pager with a text that read, “Remember when we had Timeport with no service?”
But it was his own birthday look that proves how dedicated to this year’s birthday theme he was: Drake’s party outfit was identical to rapper Fabolous’s look in his iconic video “Trade It All feat P.Diddy & Jagged Edge.” The rapper even shouted out Drake in an Instagram post saying, “@champagnepapi ready to Trade It All. Nailed the look for the 2000s Party! Scorpio Season Happy Birthday my brother.”
