Magic Cake Is the Miracle Dessert You Need in Your Life
Whenever the dessert menu rolls around, there’s always that moment where you think, “Is it socially acceptable for me to get one of everything?” Our vote: duh. Maybe you do, or maybe you just decide to go for one. But if deep down you’re digging into a chocolate mousse but wishing for a platter of different sugary treats, well guess what? There’s a cake for that.
Enter: magic cake. Despite its name, magic cake doesn’t actually require a wand or admission to Hogwarts to whip up. Instead, you really only need one bowl. The beauty – er, magic – of this cake is that by combining the ingredients in a specific order they will then separate in the oven, creating three distinct layers. The science behind baking is on full display here.

On the bottom, a rich fudge. In the middle, a creamy custard. And on top, a light sponge cake. Basically, it’s pretty much every decadent dessert you could want, all wrapped up in one square slice. The ingredients are all relatively basic (milk, eggs, sugar, flour, etc.). The most difficult element to the cake is really just whipping the egg whites with the sugar first and folding it into the rest of the batter. We believe in you.
