With everyone from Britney Spears to Lea Michele to Hayden Panettiere having worked for Candie’s in the past, Sarah Hyland had some big (very ‘90s!) shoes to fill, not only as the company’s new face, but as its first-ever creative director! From the looks of her new ad campaign, which features the end-all, be-all to the mermaid trend, girl is doing just fine.

We got our first peek at the new looks (currently available at Kohl’s), and there are plenty of trendy picks to love, including the adorable polka dot Cross Body Skater Dress ($48) and Flutter Cold-Shoulder Dress ($48) with its built-in choker. But it’s a shiny pair of sequined mermaid pants that Hyland dons for the photo shoot (styled by Brad Goreski, no less!) that we can’t get over.

The pants in question are the Candie’s Skinny Sequined Jeans ($54). “Jeans are a wardrobe staple, but you need at least one statement pair,” the 26-year-old explained to Just Jared Jr. And while initially, sequined jeans might sound like something that doesn’t need to happen, these are actually… kind of cute?

They certainly fit the aesthetic Hyland says she’s going for with the brand. “It’s been very important to me to work with the design team to to make sure the product is fun, flirty, and professional for the Candie’s girl, but also gives her opportunity to find pieces that really stand out and speak to her as an individual.”
