You Won’t Believe How Much Cate Blanchett’s Latest Red Carpet Look Weighed
Talk about commitment to fashion! Cate Blanchett, who is always on our style radar thanks to her love of eye-catching, colorful designs, earned her sartorial stripes and then some earlier this week when she walked the red carpet for an IWC Schaffhausen event in a gown that weighed — get this — 12 freaking pounds!
According to the Ocean 8 star’s stylist, Elizabeth Stewart, who spoke to InStyle about the gorgeous aqua green and lace Preen by Thornton Bregazzi Dinah piece from the fall 2018 collection, the dress featured roughly 4,000 2.5mm metallic sequins (give or take a few) adding to its heft. “I would say 4,000, but there are too many to count,” she quipped. “In weight, it’s 12 pounds.” Yowza!
While it wasn’t *quite* as heavy as Bachelorette Rachel Lindsay’s show premiere and finale gowns, both of which rang in at a whopping 30 pounds, it was still far from light as a feather.
It was no matter to Blanchett, 48, however, who loved it for its unique hue. “Cate really gravitated toward the unusual color of this dress,” Stewart shared with the outlet.
Luckily, she had a little help making her way through the room, thanks to her son, Roman Upton, who navigated the carpet with his mum, as well as her practical footwear, as the mommy of four opted for sturdy, low-heeled boots over stilettos.
Still… talk about a workout! All hail Cate the Great! *Bowing down*
