Céline Dion Was All Jitters When She Performed THIS Beauty and the Beast Song for the First Time Live
Who knew Céline Dion could have stage fright? While on stage Wednesday night as part of her Las Vegas residency, the singer announced her first live performance ever of the song, “How Does a Moment Last Forever,” which she performed for the end credits of the Emma Watson Beauty and the Beast remake. And, before singing, the legend admitted that she was very nervous to be singing the song for the “very very first time” in concert.
Dion’s connection to the Beauty and the Beast empire runs strong. She sang the theme on the original recording for Disney’s animated Beauty and the Beast back in 1991 (covered gloriously by Ariana Grande and John Legend in 2017).
When producers of the new live-action movie first approached her to contribute to the remake’s soundtrack, Dion quickly agreed to take part after consulting with her husband, René Angélil. “He helped me a lot,” she told E! News‘ Sibley Scoles at the live-action movie’s Los Angeles premiere in March. “That’s why I’m here.”
This year has been a renewal for Dion after the loss of her husband. She walked the MET Gala red carpet for the first time at the beginning of May, and performed at this past weekend’s Billboard Awards for the first time in years (recreating another one of her famous movie songs, “My Heart Will Go On” from Titanic).
