Google’s Virtual Reality Paintbrush Will Literally Let You Create Your Own Universe
Let’s start with a total honesty moment here: I am not that into virtual reality. Maybe eventually I’ll totally jump on the bandwagon, but for now, it just feels like one more thing that’s distracting everyone from conversing in the real world. That being said, there is a new product on the market that’s making me rethink all my concerns + hesitations about the new technology. It’s called Google’s Tilt Brush. Take a look at this mind-melting video, and then let’s chat more about what it does.
The Tilt Brush allows you to paint 3D space within the realm of virtual reality. Basically, your room is your canvas. Much like that iconic paint program you used to play with on your family’s PC as a kid, you begin by slipping on a headset and selecting which type of brush you’d like to use and in which color.
Also, don’t think you have to be a master artist to make your custom world look good. The brush can help you get there by starting off with a predesigned environment (like a night sky) which you can build on. You can also take snapshots so that once your masterpiece is complete you can slip on the headset and take a trip there anytime you wish.
So how many right arms is this cool new product going to cost? Probably none, considering it’s for sale on steam for $30. That being said, it does require an HTC Vive headset, which will set you back $800. Check out the full video below!
