Scroll to see your thrilling Harry Potter TV show first look here!
1. It's a true-to-books adaptation!

HBO Max
Forget everything you thought you knew about Harry Potter adaptations because this isn't a sequel, a prequel, or even a "loosely inspired by" mess. No, this is the real deal! Each season is reportedly set to cover one book penned by J.K. Rowling, meaning we'll get a full, seven-season journey through Harry's entire Hogwarts saga. Can you imagine the details? My heart just swelled like a Bludger!
2. It’s a brand new cast
While we'll always adore Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson, this new Harry Potter series means fresh actors will get to embody our beloved characters. This is a chance for a new generation to fall in love with Harry, Hermione, Ron, and even Neville! The speculation alone is enough to send shivers down my spine – who will be our new Dumbledore? Our new Snape? WHO?
So far, we know that Headmaster Albus Dumbledore will be portrayed by John Lithgow; meanwhile, Janet McTeer is taking on the role of Professor Minerva McGonagall. Severus Snape is set to be played by Paapa Essiedu, and the lovable Rubeus Hagrid? That role’s going to Nick Frost.
Finally, as for the core three kids, Arabella Stanton is portraying Hermione Granger, Alastair Stout is playing Ron Weasley, and Dominic McLaughlin is transforming into none other than Harry Potter himself.
3. We'll get deeper character exploration!

HBO Max
One of the biggest benefits of a multi-season series is the ability to explore characters in a way that films often lack time to do. Think about characters like Peeves (who was cut from the movies!), Ludo Bagman, or even the nuanced relationships between the professors. We might finally get to see more of the Marauders' backstory or a richer depiction of the pureblood families. Send me to conjuring class because I cannot stop conjuring up images of this show!
4. It's an opportunity for even MORE world-building!
The books were already rich with lore and world-building up the whazoo, but a TV series allows for even more expansion of the wizarding world, even beyond Hogwarts. Imagine seeing more of Diagon Alley, Hogsmeade, the Ministry of Magic, or even other wizarding schools from around the globe! The potential for visual storytelling and world-building is truly limitless.
5. But, the release date is still under wraps

HBO Max
As of now, there's no official release date. That makes sense, because building a world this vast and intricate takes time, talent, and a great deal of imagination. So, while the wait might feel longer than a trip through the Floo Network, it’s a small price to pay for what promises to be a truly spectacular adaptation. Until then, I'll be re-reading the books for the tenth time, to prepare.
