Katy Perry Helped Two Fans Get Engaged on National Coming Out Day
Katy Perry may be living the single life, but that doesn’t mean she can’t help others find their way to wedded bliss. And that’s just what the “Swish Swish” singer did when she helped a fan propose on National Coming Out Day.
While performing at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn on Wednesday night, Perry suddenly stopped the show to invite two concertgoers, Katie and Becky, to join her onstage. Their fellow audience members filmed their moment in the spotlight and posted it to Twitter, giving us (and the rest of the world!) a look at the romantic scene, which ultimately resulted in Katie (not to be confused with pop singer Katy!) proposing to Becky.

As seen in the clip, Perry asked the fans to share their wishes before handing her mic to Katie, who proceeded to address the enormous crowd. “Well, I don’t know if y’all have seen Becky, but she’s pretty even without any makeup on. And she’s perfect every time she tells the punch line,” Katie began, quoting Perry’s hit song “Teenage Dream.”
From there, Katie pulled out an engagement ring, got down on one knee, and popped the question, to wild cheers and applause from the audience. Seemingly overwhelmed by the romance of the moment, the “Bon Appétit” singer fell to the floor in shock before encouraging Becky to accept the proposal. “Say yes, Becky, if you want to get married!” she yelled.
Needless to say, Becky took her advice, making Katie’s wish come true.
Congratulations, Katie and Becky! We’re sure you’ll be dancing to a few of Katy Perry’s tunes at your wedding reception. May we suggest “Unconditionally?”
