Stranger Things’ Barb Just Landed a Gig in the New Melissa McCarthy Movie
While we eagerly await the second season of Stranger Things, filling our time with speculation and theories, the cast members are busy lining up their next prime gigs. Shannon Purser, the breakout star everyone knows as Barb, has been given the chance of a lifetime and is totally willing to strike while the iron is hot. That’s how, after a whirlwind of Hollywood meet-and-greets and auditions, Shannon has just landed a role in the new Melissa McCarthy movie.
Though still relatively unknown, the redheaded actress was still working at a local movie theatre when she landed the Stranger Things role that has now turned her into a cultural icon (seriously, there are going to be so many Barbs at Halloween this year). But while *SPOILER* her role as Barb may be done (or is it?), Shannon is busy taking advantage of this opportunity.
“It’s been a whirlwind of an experience to have such a high level of excitement surrounding Shannon,” her manager told The Hollywood Reporter, “and the types of meetings and projects coming her way.” A prime example would be the small role she’s just nabbed opposite Melissa McCarthy in the upcoming movie Life of the Party. Though all plot deets are still under wraps, we have no doubt this will be awesome.
But that’s not the only place you’ll be spotting Barb, er, Shannon. The young actress has also just scored the role of Ethel in the new Archie reboot, Riverdale.
#JusticeForBarb indeed.
