David And Victoria Beckham Make Love Look Good AND Last A Lifetime

victoria and david beckham

Victoria and David Beckham's relationship began when most millennials had to make it home before the street lights came on. In other words, they've been together for two decades! That's almost as long as Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick's 30+ year run!

What makes Victoria and David's marriage stand out is the fact they've both done exceptionally well in their careers — and looked good doing it. One is a former Spice Girls member turned successful fashion designer while the other is a notable soccer player who continues to receive all of his flowers. It just doesn't get better than this!

In celebration of our one and only Posh Spice's birthday today, we're sharing a timeline of all things related to David and Victoria Beckham's charming love story.

1997

The couple first met in 1997 and David Beckham detailed how it happened during an interview on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Ironically the David Beckham thought he'd somehow blown it with his wife. He said, "She came to a football match—soccer match—and I said hi from across the room and that was it. I thought I’d missed my chance..." As we can, that wasn't the case!

Victoria actually detailed just how much their meeting affected her when she was featured on British Vogue's cover in 2016. She wrote, "And yes, love at first sight does exist. It will happen to you in the Manchester United players’ lounge – although you will get a little drunk, so exact details are hazy."

When David appeared on The Jimmy Fallon Show years later, he offered a few more details about that night. "We talked for about an hour in the players’ lounge...she wrote her number down on her train ticket, which I still have."

January 1998

After the couple started dating in 1997, they were engaged the next year. Like Victoria's British Vogue's letter said, "...love at first sight does exist..."

It seems like their love was extremely passionate because Victoria and David Beckham were awaiting the arrival of their son towards the end of that year.

March 1999

Victoria gave birth to the Brooklyn Joseph that next year and even talked what inspired his name in her book Learning to Fly. "I had always liked the name Brooke and then we suddenly thought about Brooklyn. I’d always liked it as a place — it’s very multi-cultural, very grounded," she said.

July 1999

According to People, the couple tied the knot at Luttrellstown Castle in Ireland in front of less than 30 guests.

Once David's contract with Real Madrid ended, the family gladly moved back to the U.S. because of his new obligation with L.A. Galaxy. Victoria told People the move would be "...especially nice for the children…to be able to be outdoors so much of the time will be wonderful. Brooklyn, Romeo, and Cruz were all under the age of 10 at the time.

August 2007

Shortly after the couple moved to L.A. with their sons, rumors started spreading about David's alleged affair. Victoria told W Magazine, "I’m not going to lie. It was a really rough time …David and I got through it together." She also mentioned that marriage isn't a walk in the park, but they'd become closer.

January 2017

Victoria and David Beckham renewed their vows at the beginning of 2017 which the latter talked about during a conversation on BBC Radio 4's Desert Island Discs. "It was a lot more private, about six people there in our house...We stay together because we love each other, because we have four amazing children," the former soccer player gushed.

June 2018

Oddly enough, more rumors began circulating about the couple getting divorced. However, Victoria and David Beckham's rep quickly shut them down in a statement to People. "...fake news fueled by social media. There is no impending statement, no divorce," the rep said. Victoria even shared a cute pic of her and David's daughter Harper on Instagram with the caption, "Morning cuddles x So much love 🙏🏻 We love and miss u @davidbeckham 💕💕💕💕."

July 2018

During her feature interview for British Vogue, Victoria shed more light on the baseless rumors about her and David's marriage. "People have been making things up about our relationship for 20 years, so David and I are pretty used to ignoring the nonsense and just carrying on as normal. But these things have a wider effect on the people around us, and that’s unfair."

October 2018

David talked to Lisa Wilkinson of The Sunday's Project and reiterated that it takes a lot of work to maintain a marriage. "To have been married for the amount of time that we have, you know it’s always hard work, everybody knows that, but you make it work, you make difficult situations, like traveling away, being away from each other, you make it work," he said.

I'm taking a break from popular BookTok recommendations so I can set my sights on the best true crime books worth reading this summer. As much as smut booksmake me feel tingly all over, there are times when I need a different kind of thrill.

Some people find it hard to believe, but I genuinely enjoy a good scare that's unrelated to terrifying rough patches in a relationship. I'm talking about reading things that involve serial killers, con artists, or supernatural beings that wreak havoc on a small community.

Does that make your pulse race too? Good; that means I've got your attention and can share the best true crime books I think you should read this summer!

P.S. You can save up to 80% on them because they're a part of the Amazon Book Sale that ends May 20!

My Sister, The Serial Killer by Oyinkan Braithwaite

I adore my sister and often find myself asking, "Am I my sister's keeper?" The answer is a resounding yes, but My Sister, The Serial Killer makes me question how I'd feel if I knew she was psychotic.

For Korede, she finds herself at a crossroads. She feels resentment in the pit of her stomach because no one else seems to realize that her perfect sister, Ayoola, has murderous tendencies. She's actually the epitome of the phrase 'fatal attraction.'

For some reason, Ayoola keeps murdering her boyfriends and Korede keeps protecting her secret, even going as far as to help Ayoola cover her tracks. Her heart is torn even further when the man she's got heart eyes for sets his sights on Ayoola.

Now Korede will have to decide how to truly deal with the truth of who her sister is and it just may cost her.

All the Sinners Bleed by S.A. Crosby

Small towns are usually endearing, but they can always hold onto buried secrets that are begging to be dug up.

When Titus Crown, Charon County, Virginia's first Black sheriff fully embraces being back home, he knows it won't take long for trouble to start. It's not that he's looking for it per say. He's just experienced enough to know that no town is perfect.

Sure enough, a schoolteacher and her killer are murdered soon after he becomes the sheriff. This leads him to discover a much more sinister killer is on the loose and that person may be closer than he realizes.

The more he investigates, the more Titus' own past begins to haunt him. On top of that, he'll have to deal with dogmatic conservatives who are hellbent on celebrating their own history.

It'll take a miracle for him to truly uncover what's going on.

The Butcher and the Wren by Alaina Urquhart

Trigger warner: Contains detailed murders.

There's an extremely calculate killer on the loose in Louisiana and he's someone authorities have figured out is highly intelligent. Their only hope seems to be Dr. Wren Muller, an equally adept forensic pathologist. She comes highly recommended, but this is the first case that'll test her knowledge, skills, and resolve.

It's the most twisted psychological games she's ever played and the killer seems to be determined to see how far his crimes can go.

All Good People Here by Ashley Flowers

Though Margot Davies is miles away from home, she can't stop thinking about her former next door neighbor that was found murdered when she was younger — January Jones. After all this time, January's murdered has gone unsolved and it's been eating away at Margot over the years.

Somehow fate lands her back in the town of Wakarusa and she begins to help care for her uncle. In an odd form of deja vu, another young girl goes missing and it reminds Margot of what happened to January. Since she was too young to do anything back then, she makes it her personal mission to try to solve the new missing person's case.

But, she's met with resistance at every turn and it becomes clear that more than a few people are hiding the truth of what's going on. And when Margot discovers what's really happened, it just may be her undoing.

Killers of a Certain Age by Deanna Raybourn

Four assassins — Billie, Mary Alice, Helen, and Natalie — have worked for the Museum for four decades and have always done a great job. However, their methods are soon considered outdated and it's apparent their talents aren't as respected as they used to.

However, things seem like they've turned around when the women are surprised with the trip of a lifetime. They look forward to their vacation, but that excitement is cut short when they quickly deduce that their lives are in danger because they've been betrayed by the very organization they've dedicated their time and skills to.

Beyond angry, the women decide it's time to show the Museum and the Board what they're truly made of.

First Lie Wins by Ashley Elston

Evie Porter isn't really who anyone thinks she is. In fact, the woman who says her name is 'Evie Porter' is actually on a mission that involves infiltrating the life of an assigned target — the charming and attractive Ryan Sumner.

What's interesting is that she doesn't even know the identity of her employer Mr. Smith. He keeps his identity a secret from her while sending her on missions that seem to mean something to him in exchange for keeping her former life of crime a secret. But, she starts falling for Ryan which makes it harder to lie to him.

Then comes the woman who enters town and she's taken on Evie's real identity. This suddenly makes Evie realize there's more to her boss than she realized and he may have been setting things up on purpose to still find a way to take her down.

The Southern Book Club's Guide to Slaying Vampires by Grady Hendrix

Patricia Campbell's life consists of playing second fiddle to virtually everyone and everything. She's a housewife to an ambitious husband and a mother to two kids who don't always need her like they used to.

Her only solace is connected with the women at the book club she frequents and they love reading true crime books while discussing their own lives. No matter how much she's read about serial killers, nothing prepares Patricia for when she's attacked one night and introduced to a mysterious stranger who charms his way into her life.

The more he comes around, the more little Black children go missing though the police don't seem concerned. And the more Patricia starts piecing together clues, the more she realizes she's the one who's given the a monster permission to stay.

If you're a fan of book clubs and would like to imagine what would happen if true crime showed up in your town, you'll love reading The Southern Book Club's Guide to Slaying Vampires.

The Only One Left by Riley Sager

Sometimes people lie about what they've done and that's what home-health aide Kit McDeere discovers in The Only One Left.

Prior to her introduction in the book, readers meet young Lenora Hope who's entire family has been murdered. There are speculations that she committed the grisly crimes, but there was never enough evidence to convict her. Thus began her life of silence while remaining holed up in the mansion she grew up in.

By the time Kit McDeere arrives to assist Lenora who remains mute save for her ability to communicate via a typewriter. One night Lenora catches Kit off guard when she confesses she didn't kill her sister. So, Kit begins documenting what happened according to Lenora.

Only something isn't adding up, especially when Kit finds out why Lenora's former nurse left in the middle of the night. Now she's alone with the supposedly mute woman who's in a wheelchair and she suspects there's more to Lenora than she's been shown.

My Murder by Katie Williams

Despite her happy life, Lou's life is temporarily cut short when she becomes a victim of a serial killer. Brought back to life by way of a project ran by the government, she decides to be grateful to live her life again. She just can't seem to shake wondering why she was killed.

This makes her begin looking at people close to her warily because something feels off and she'll stop at nothing to figure out what happened to her.

Vera Wong's Unsolicited Advice for Murderers by Jesse Q. Sutanto

Vera Wong spends her time in her tea shop sipping Wulong and snooping on her son. It's not a lonely life as far as she's concerned, but her world is changed when she finds a dead man in her shop.

Instead of calling the police, she takes a piece of evidence from the man's hands and decides she's the best person to solve the mystery of what happened to him. She correctly deduces that someone must be looking for something the man had and, sure enough, her shop starts to see an increase of customers.

The thing is that Vera begins developing a relationship with the influx of customer she's receiving and this makes her original mission of solving the dead man's case even harder.

Eva Mendes is not here for the mom-shamers. She told People (in honor of its 2024 Beautiful Issue) that staying home to focus on Ryan Gosling and her kids was the "easiest decision I've ever made" because she wanted to be there for their formative childhood years.

"When I was 40, it was a big deal for people when I was pregnant, and it wasn't for me," she says. "And then I was 42 and I was pregnant with my second one and people were like, 'Oh my God, you're going to be so tired. That's why people have kids in their 20s.' I was like, that's the most sorry, asinine thing I've ever heard."

"[Ryan supports me] in all the ways I need to be supported," she continues. "He's got me in all the ways."

It seems like there’s a brand-new, buzzy supplement popping up just about every other week. First, it was the sleep-inducing magnesium glycinate in the viral Sleepy Girl Mocktail, then the antioxidant-rich liquid chlorophyll just about every TikTok gym girlie was touting for its endless health benefits. The latest staple taking the health world by storm is sea moss gel – an ingredient Hailey Bieber even worked into her Erewhon smoothie – and people are going nuts for it. But what exactly is sea moss gel, and is it right for you?

Below, we’re breaking down sea moss gel, its benefits and drawbacks, and how you can make it work best for you with the help of experts.

What is sea moss gel?

Sea moss gel is a gelatinous substance – similar in texture to aloe vera – that’s derived from red seaweed. Red seaweed is processed most commonly for carrageenan, a natural thickener for a range of products from ice cream, non-dairy milks and creamers, cottage cheese, jellies, and more.

Sea moss gel went viral because people were taking it by the spoonful (an obvious turn-off to those with texture issues), but you can also blend it into smoothies, stir it into a glass of juice, or mix it into dressings and sauces.

Sea moss gel is a sort of multi-hyphenate when it comes to health benefits. It’s super rich in minerals, vitamins, and protein.

It’s packed with iodine, potassium, calcium, which Doctor Simran Shamanur, MBBS with Allo Health says are essential.

“These minerals are crucial for maintaining healthy thyroid function, metabolism, and overall cellular health,” she says.

Sea moss gel is also high in fiber and promotes a healthy digestive system – which is great, because when you have a happy tummy, you’re happy. Additionally, it acts as a prebiotic, supporting beneficial bacteria growth.

The benefits of sea moss gel are seemingly endless. At a glance, here are the benefits it's known for:

Digestive health

As mentioned, sea moss gel is rich in fiber and prebiotics, which can both promote regularity and overall gut health.

Heart health

The vitamins and minerals included in sea moss gel are great for your general health, but also your heart health.

Thyroid health

If you experience challenges with your thyroid health, taking sea moss can be beneficial since it promotes hormone production and boosts your metabolism.

Weight loss

Since it’s fiber-rich, supplementing your diet with sea moss gel can keep you fuller for longer, making way for a more sustainable, weight loss-focused regimen.

Skin health

Sea moss gel can make a positive impact on your skin, whether it’s digested internally or applied topically.

“Thanks to its high sulfur content, sea moss can have a positive impact on skin health,” Dr. Simran Shamanur, MBBS says. “It's often used in creams and gels to soothe skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, and acne.”

Boosts immunity

The vitamins and minerals included in sea moss gel compound to support immune health if you take it regularly.

Oral health

Sea moss can be beneficial for your oral health, Dr. Jerry Friedman,North Jersey Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery says.

“It is high in iodine and calcium, both of which help strengthen your teeth and fight off bacteria that can lead to decay,” he says. “It also has anti-inflammatory properties, which is beneficial for your gums.”

Muscle growth + recovery

Per Cleveland Clinic, sea moss gel has 6 grams of protein per 100 grams. Eating enough protein can help you gain muscle. Furthermore, sea moss gel is full of an amino acid called taurine, which can help muscles recover after exercise.

What are the risks of sea moss gel?

Like with all supplements, there are considerations to keep in mind before you start taking them, Dr. Simran Shamanur, MBBS says.

Sea moss gel isn’t an exception, especially since there are a few risks associated with taking it.

Though sea moss gel is touted for being rich in iodine, it also has its drawbacks since too much iodine can lead to thyroid dysfunction.

Sea moss gel also has the potential for contamination due to its oceanic origins, Shamanur says. Because of this, it’s important to be extra-diligent about the type of sea moss gel you buy.

As sea moss grows in the ocean, there is a risk of contamination with heavy metals like mercury and lead,” she says. “It's crucial to source sea moss from reputable suppliers who test for these contaminants.”

Why is sea moss gel so expensive?

Jars of sea moss gel can range from $20-80, sometimes even more, which makes it fairly expensive for the average shopper.

The variation in price really comes down to where it comes from, how it’s grown, how much you buy, plus the market demand for sea moss gel.

Can you eat sea moss gel every day?

Eating sea moss gel every day might not be necessary depending on your current diet and outstanding health conditions. It’s important to talk with your doctor before starting to incorporate sea moss gel into your diet.

Sea moss gel can be dangerous in large amounts, says James Cunningham, Complete Health Optimization Coach with Total Shape.

“If you start experiencing negative side effects or allergic reactions after consuming or applying sea moss, such as irritation, itchy throat or nausea, redness, swelling, burning or stinging, or difficulty breathing, immediately stop using the product and consult a doctor,” he says.

Rustic home decor is making a solid comeback this year, and we're really not sad about it. According to Pinterest, searches for Spanish Mediterranean kitchens rose by a crazy 1,150 percent in the last year, and demand for Mexican farmhouse decor (think earthy patterned tiles and rustic terracotta decor) rose by a not-so-small 203 percent. Clean, sleek and modern is not for everyone. For some, imperfections, handmade decor, and rich color are where the beauty of a home really slays.

Mastering the look is the married couple and design duo behind the Los Angeles design firm Bungalowe, Karan and Sapna Aggarwal. Here's a peek inside their recently renovated home in the Highland Park neighborhood of LA, staged beautifully by Pride of Place with floral design by Jessie Graham.

Their stunning new project was inspired by their trip to Oaxaca, Mexico. "This sweet Spanish style home draws inspiration from our memorable trips to Grana B&B in Oaxaca and the enchanting Ojai Valley Inn," says Sapna.

"The decorative, hand-painted tiles from Old Mexico adorn the baseboards and accent walls, evoking a sense of tranquility and nostalgia," says Sapna. The design beautifully connects the historic Spanish style with an earthy color palette and eclectic furniture.

The style is unique and artistic, a little of an elevated boho aesthetic, that feels timeless and a little like you're on a permanent vacation! Notice the clay vases, dried flowers, wooden spoons and bowls against a rich emerald green tile. "The green zellige tiles in the kitchen and bathroom celebrate the organic beauty found in nature's imperfections," says Sapna.

More and more homeowners are choosing to create cozier kitchen spaces that embrace the natural world, says Chris Alexakis, co-founder of CabinetSelect (not affiliated with this project). Some ways to get the Mexican farmhouse look? "You can introduce splashes of color with uniquely patterned tiles and rustic terracotta decorations. The earthy rustic feel of Mexican-style kitchens pairs exquisitely with popular farmhouse decor to create cozy, natural spaces," adds Alexakis.

Sapna and Karan wanted to pay homage to the original Spanish architecture of their home. They creatively transformed the home from a one bedroom, one bath home into a stylish and functional two bedroom, two-and-a-half bath, plus office.

The materials used on the inside were all selected to honor the home's history, and included handmade and hand-painted decorative tiles from Old Mexico and handmade Moroccan Zellige from Zia Tile. Love this arched nook with colorful tile, a unique alternative to paint or wallpaper.

The new office addition is a cozy nook where a soothing color palette creates a peaceful place to get work done. Benjamin Moore Brazilian Rainforest paint trims the windows, pottery lines the built-in shelves, and the linen club chairs offer a spot to read or rest. The colonial-style chair with tall ladder back is understated but sublime.

The bedrooms are minimal with cozy, luxe linens and handmade textures. The wrought iron bed adds character and a vintage quality that grounds the room.

The microcement on the interior walls is imperfectly beautiful in a rustic way. This wavy sink is a showstopper.

The terracotta tile floors are a beautiful alternative to oak flooring we see everywhere. "Saltillo tiles, synonymous with traditional adobe homes, grace the floors, seamlessly blending indoor and outdoor living," says Sapna.

The fringe blanket is elegant and rustic at the same time in a breezy white. The tile and arched nook from the living room is echoed here too to create connection and symmetry throughout the home.

Built-in cabinetry with open shelving adds extra storage space, plus a decorative element to showcase more gorgeous pottery and handmade baskets. "Thoughtfully integrated custom cabinetry throughout the home complements the striking tile-work with its warm wood tones," says Sapna.

Elements like the green zellige tile are repeated throughout, creating a simplicity to the design. The wall treatment extends to the floor with a seamless transition between room and shower. Pottery and plants in the bath are an inviting touch.

Baskets, plants, and mementos from their travels personalize and warm up the home. "The light fixtures were designed to evoke a vacation-like ambiance, offering a sense of relaxation and luxury that enriches every corner of the home," says Sapna.

Another unique rustic sink stands out as an artistic piece in a serene setting.

Los Angeles is perfect for indoor/outdoor living and the same rustic aesthetic is used in the exterior design of the Spanish home. Not fussy, just lovely! "The outdoor space, designed around the original river rock pond, boasts a spacious lounge under a majestic tree with hanging lanterns, a dining table overlooking stunning city vistas and a terraced garden. To complete this outdoor sanctuary, a dedicated carport can double as a picture perfect terrace to host large dinner parties," says Sapna.
