Your Facebook Profile Pic Is About to Get a Bedazzled Upgrade
Social media has become a form of identity. We tailor what we put online in order to reflect our best selves. But what if you want to be really different in what you post online? For those who think outside the boundaries of photo and text, you may soon be able to use content from your favorite apps as your Facebook profile picture.
Facebook just opened up its Profile Expression Kit to all developers. So as soon as your favorite app jumps on board, you’re going to be able to make your profile picture a whole lot snazzier (we’re thinking something à la Harry Potter newspaper?). The Profile Expression Kit has already been integrated with services like Vine, Boomerang and Prisma, so you can make your profile picture dance, move or be a work of art.
When you change your profile picture to something more fun with an outside app, it will also double as an ad for that app. Your friends will see not only the change in your profile, but a link for how to do the same. So if you see someone following in your tech-savvy footsteps, just remember that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
