Giphy Is Here to Save All Your Vines AND Turn Them into Hilarious GIFs
It’s been an interesting week in social media, what with Facebook trying to take on Snapchat and Twitter forcing us to say “Goodbye!” to Vine: In fact, we’ve been in a real glass case of emotion all week.
But wait! There’s now a slight glimmer of hope with regard to Vine, because you’ll soon be able to easily store all of your six-second works of art in one place and share them with friends FOREVER. Hoorah!
That’s because Giphy, our go-to source for all things GIF, has announced plans to create a tool that will let users move all of their Vine videos over with the simple click of a button. Better still? It’s coming “soon.” “We love the loop, and that’s why we’ve built an import tool for you to convert your Vines to GIFs!” the company said in a statement on its site.

So how will it work? Well, first up, you’ll need to register for a Giphy account, if you don’t already have one. From there, you’ll be able to log in, copy and paste your Vine profile URL into the designated area, wait a bit and voila! Giphy will send you an email notification as soon as your entire library has been imported. Your original videos (complete with audio!) will then be stored there, safe and sound; PLUS you’ll be able to share each and every single one of ’em with friends as GIFs (though those won’t have sound ― at least not for now).
Long Live The Loop 💜

If that all seems like a bit much for you, Vine has vowed to not touch or remove its original site, so you’ll always be able to go back and watch your fave clips there, with the option to download them to your phone. Buuuut, we must say, the idea of turning our Vine vids into GIFs that can easily be shared with everyone does sound like a pretty great option.
#RIPVine. You won’t soon be forgotten!
