It seems like Ben Higgins and Lauren Bushnell did get their happily ever after — no question mark — even if it’s not a shared one. Following the Bachelor couple’s split in May, the former flight attendant assured E! News that even though she’s moved back to Los Angeles, she and her ex-fiancé are in a good place, given the situation.
At SodaStream’s National Hydration Day event on Wednesday, Bushnell told E! that despite the distance between her and Higgins (she recently moved back to Marina Del Rey), they still “touch base” now and then. “We check in with each other and say ‘how are you doing?’ but we try not to do it all the time because we want to give each other time to heal and give each other our space,” she shared. “But we’re on good terms and I genuinely wish the best for him and I think he wishes the best of me. It’s good, there’s no bad blood there at all. I’m really excited for him and what he has going on.”
Higgins previously shared a similar sentiment on his podcast with Ashley Iaconetti. “When you really care about somebody and you really love somebody and that has to end — for whatever reason, even for reasons that either person can’t really explain, it’s just a feeling and you have to go your separate ways — it hurts. It hurts bad,” he said.
To help her move past that hurt, Bushnell has been focusing on “friends, family, the beach, and working out” — not dating, although if it happens, “great.” Her current obsession: pilates at Marina del Rey’s The Studio. “It’s really hard but I love it. It clears my mind when I do it,” she raved to E!.
A clear mind will probably help when the time comes for her to return her engagement ring. “I want to give it back, but I think [the producers] have had a lot of other stuff going on. I will give it back,” she said of the $80,000 Neil Lane stunner.
