Fans of The Mindy Project said goodbye to the show聽in聽2017,聽and while we鈥檙e looking forward to Mindy Kaling鈥檚聽costarring role in A Wrinkle In Time聽(out March 9!), we don鈥檛 have to entirely say goodbye to her on the small screen, either. The first trailer for the new show she co-created, Champions, debuted this week, and it looks as heartwarming and hilarious as we鈥檝e come to expect from Kaling.

Champions聽centers around Vince (played by Anders Holm, Kaling鈥檚 one-time on-screen boyfriend Casey from The Mindy Project),聽a gym owner who鈥檚 living his best bachelor life alongside his younger brother Matthew. But Vince鈥檚 womanizing ways come to a screeching halt when his high-school fling, Priya (Kaling),聽shows up to drop off their surprise 15-year-old son, Michael.

Michael聽is finally living his best 鈥 albeit much more competitive 鈥 life in the culture-rich New York City, but the adjustment to living with his long-lost (and polar opposite) dad isn鈥檛 so easy.

Kaling co-created and executive produces the show with comedian Charlie Grandy,聽who has聽worked on previous projects with her, such as the aforementioned Mindy Project, as well as The Office.

Champions features another familiar Mindy Project face, too:聽Fortune Feimster (who played Collette on Mindy Project) will play Ruby, a childhood friend of Vince and Matthew鈥檚. Kaling herself won鈥檛聽be in every episode of the show, but along with聽running things behind the scenes (and having a newborn baby girl at home!), she鈥檒l appear in a recurring capacity.

Champions premieres on NBC on Thursday, March 8, at 8:30pm ET.
