It鈥檚 been two years since he passed, but our admiration for Robin Williams hasn鈥檛 wavered a bit. Williams was a staple in so many of our favorite childhood films, but a new revelation has revealed he could have been a key member of another one: Harry Potter.

In a recent interview with The Huffington Post, Janet Hirshenson, a casting director from the film franchise, revealed that Robin actually called the filmmakers because he was super interested in being in the movie. He had hoped to play our favorite giant Hagrid, but he was rejected because the filmmakers had established a strict 鈥淏rits only鈥 rule.

鈥淩obin had called [director Chris Columbus] because he really wanted to be in the movie, but it was a British-only edict, and once he said no to Robin, he wasn鈥檛 going to say yes to anybody else, that鈥檚 for sure,鈥 the casting director told HuffPost. 鈥淚t couldn鈥檛 be.鈥

As you all probably know, the role of Hagrid ended up being played by Robbie Coltrane, who was actually JK Rowling鈥檚 first choice. There鈥檚 no denying Coltrane did a near perfect job, but let鈥檚 all just take a moment to think about how amazing Williams would have been.
